MOUNT
TORRENS
Nestled in the scenic Mount Lofty Ranges, just a 40-minute drive east of Adelaide, Mount Torrens sits in a tranquil valley between Birdwood and Woodside. This historic town is a State Heritage Area and an exceptional representation of a 19th-century settlement in the Adelaide Hills. Rich with history, Mount Torrens is notable for its role in South Australia’s transport heritage, particularly its ties to the River Murray steamer trade, and George Dunn, a key figure in the town's development.
Whether you’re a history enthusiast drawn to the architectural and settlement legacy of the Adelaide Hills or simply a visitor seeking a vibrant community atmosphere, Mount Torrens has much to offer. Enjoy lively community events, explore local markets, stroll through community gardens, and visit unique exhibitions and special events throughout the year.
This site is proudly maintained by the Mount Torrens and Districts Community Association, bringing the history and spirit of Mount Torrens to life for all who visit.
